Joint Housing Land Availability Study

It is a requirement for every local planning authority in Wales to undertake a Joint Housing Land Availability Study (JHLAS) on an annual basis in order to monitor the supply of land that is available for housing in their areas.

Planning Policy Wales states that local planning authorities have to ensure that sufficient land is available, or will become available, to ensure a five year land supply for housing.

Technical Advice Note (TAN) 1, “Joint Housing Land Availability Studies” by the Welsh Government, provides guidance for calculating the available housing land supply.

Joint Housing Land Availability Study 2019

Following the adoption of the Anglesey and Gwynedd Joint Local Development Plan in July 2017, the Isle of Anglesey County Council and Gwynedd Council are undertaking a single Joint Housing Land Availability Study (JHLAS) for the Plan area i.e. the Anglesey and Gwynedd Planning Authority areas.

The 2019 Joint Housing Land Availability Study report notes the situation with regard to the supply of land for housing in the Anglesey and Gwynedd local planning authority areas (Gwynedd excluding the Snowdonia National Park). This report replaces the 2018 Joint Housing Land Availability Study Report.
