Make sure you’re registered to vote in general election
On Thursday, 8 June voters in the Arfon and Dwyfor Meirionnydd constituencies will go to the polls to elect their Members of Parliament. To take part and to be able to cast your vote, you will need to be registered to vote by Monday, 22 May.
If you had already registered for this year’s local elections, you will not need to re-register. However, if you haven’t already registered to vote you will need to do so by the deadline.
Anyone not registered to vote at their current address can register online at www.gov.uk/registertovote or phone Gwynedd Council’s Election Services on 01766 771000.
If you will be unable to cast your vote in person on 8 June, you can apply for a postal or proxy vote. The deadline to apply by post for the UK general election is 5pm on Tuesday, 23 May. The deadline to apply to vote by proxy at the UK general election is 5pm on Wednesday, 31 May.
Dilwyn Williams, Acting Returning Officer for Gwynedd Council, said:
“With the closing date for registering to vote on 22 May, we are urging everyone in Gwynedd to register to vote by then, to ensure that their voice is heard on Thursday, 8 June. This election is an opportunity to have your say on who will represent the people of the Arfon and Dwyfor Meirionnydd constituencies at Westminster - don’t miss out on this opportunity.”
