Gwynedd supporting North Wales Buy with confidence scheme

Gwynedd Council’s Trading Standards Unit has recently joined forces with north Wales’ other authorities to deliver ‘Buy With Confidence’, a trader approval programme designed to ensure that businesses operate in a legal, honest and fair way.

The scheme also provides a register of local businesses which have given their commitment to trading fairly. The scheme is open to any manner of business, with successful applicants able to advertise themselves as ‘Trading Standards Approved’.

All prospective members are thoroughly audited by Trading Standards before being allowed to join the scheme with their performance being continuously monitored. In the event of a business breaching the conditions of their membership appropriate action will be taken, and, where necessary, that company will be removed from the scheme.

John Eden Jones,  Trading Standards Enforcement Officer with Gwynedd Council said: “This scheme is aimed at supporting legitimate businesses, protecting our consumers against the ‘rogue traders’ and allows the Council to provide the public with a list of businesses who are committed to trading fairly and providing good customer service. ‘North Wales Buy With Confidence’ is also a great example of a local government partnership working on behalf of the consumer.”

Any trader wishing to promote their business as being approved by Trading Standards or any consumer wanting to find an approved trader should visit www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk or the ‘North Wales Buy With Confidence’ Facebook page.
