Free travel on the TrawsCymru bus service
A scheme which offers free travel for everyone at weekends on the TrawsCymru bus network has been launched. Two services are available in Gwynedd, connecting both north and south and the east and west.
Since it began at the beginning of July, it has proven to be very popular. In Gwynedd, the following services are available in the county:
- T2 Aberystwyth – Bangor
- T3 Barmouth - Wrexham
These services provide easy access to a number of Gwynedd’s unique places including Caernarfon, Porthmadog, Dolgellau and Y Bala. The TrawsCymru also provides access to a number of attractions and activities not least its beaches, castles, coastal path and the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways.
Councillor Dafydd Meurig, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member with responsibility for Transport, said: “Making best use of the public transport services available in Gwynedd provides clear evidence of the demand for services. In turn, this will support business cases to maintain and improve services and proves the value in our investment in the transport network.
“If you’re a student travelling home for the weekend, visiting friends or travelling for pleasure, our message is simple – make the most of the TrawsCymru service.”
Councillor Ioan Thomas, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member with responsibility for Economic Development, commented: “There’s a whole host of things to do and see in Gwynedd and the TrawsCymru service provides opportunities to visit a number of unique places including Caernarfon, Porthmadog, Dolgellau and Y Bala.
“The TrawsCymru also provides access to a number of attractions and activities not least its beaches, castles, coastal path and the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways – a fantastic chance for residents and visitors to make the most of fantastic locations within the county and beyond.”
