Waste and Recycling

Collecting waste and recycling from the kerbside is one of Gwynedd Council's most visual services, but there is more to the service than bins and boxes. There are 57,000 houses in Gwynedd - all of them with occupants that are producing waste for recycling or landfill.

Gwynedd Council, like every other council in Wales, has been set targets by the Welsh Assembly Government to recycle more and to reduce the amount of waste that goes into landfill.

  • The Council's target is to recycle and compost 40% of household waste by 2010.
  • Currently, we are recycling about 30% of our waste, so we need you to help us hit the target, and more!
  • We have set up a Waste and Recycling Help Desk to answer any questions or respond to requests for services such as the blue box.

Take a look at the links on the left to learn more about what Gwynedd Council is doing with regards to recycling and why.
