A Welsh Government Minister had an opportunity recently to see for himself what the Cambrian Railways have to offer.

Carl Sargeant AM, the Minister for Local Government and Communities was giving his seal of approval to a new initiative run by the Cambrian Railways Partnership in conjunction with Cyngor Gwynedd.

Seen here during the official opening of Traveline Cymru’s new call-centre at Penrhyndeudraeth, the Minister was keen to pick up his own copy of ‘Tip Top Trips’ that offers 20% discounts to people visiting participating tourist attractions in Gwynedd by train or bus.

Rhydian Mason, development officer for the Cambrian Railways Partnership said that this was one of a number of initiatives designed to encourage people to make better use of the excellent public transport network that exists in Wales.

“We have an excellent rail service in Wales, and the Cambrian Lines in particular are a great way to get to mid and north-west Wales and all the fantastic tourist hot spots that are proving so popular. ‘Tip Top Trips’, our new brochure will hopefully encourage more people to take their tourist trips to this area by train or bus.”
