Commenting on a planning application

During the 21-day consultation period anyone may submit comments on the development - either objecting or supporting, or a general comment. Any valid comments will be taken into consideration when making a decision on the application. Comments on a planning application can only be submitted during this period.

Submitting comments
It is possible to submit comments:

  • Online: Track and Trace planning applications
You will need to search for the application you wish to comment on in the Track and Trace system and then follow the Submit a comment on this application link in order to submit a comment.
  • In writing: Send your comments by post to:
Planning Service, Council Offices, Ffordd y Cob, Pwllheli, Gwynedd. LL53 5AA

You can view details of planning applications by looking at the Track and Trace planning applications system online, or by calling in at Siop Gwynedd, Ffordd y Cob, Pwllheli during office hours (Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00).

What type of comments will be considered?
These are the most common types of comments that will be considered as part of the consultation period (the list is not definitive):

  • does the development conform to planning policies and the Unitary Development Plan?
  • comments about the design
  • impact on neighbouring properties such as severe loss of light or privacy
  • impact on highway safety

We cannot take into consideration comments which are submitted about:

  • loss of view
  • land ownership disputes
  • personal character of the applicant
  • moral issues
  • property devaluation

What will happen if objections to my application are received?
Even if objections are received, this does not necessarily mean that the application will be refused. If 3 or more valid objections are received, the application is likely to be referred to the Planning Committee for consideration.
