The European Union influences our everyday lives in a numbers of ways; from the services we receive, to the goods we buy and use. European policies can affect the county in in various fields, including the environment and economic development.
The European Union is also an important source of funding, and Gwynedd benefits substantially from these funds for the purposes of project development and supporting the County’s economy.
The Strategy and Development Service supports Gwynedd’s businesses and inhabitants to make the most of this European funding, keeps and eye on policy developments in Europe and help areas of Gwynedd to set up connections with other parts of Europe.
Between 2001 and 2008 Gwynedd received an investment worth £167.4 million from Europe via the Objective 1 programme. Gwynedd once again receives the highest level of European support available via the Convergence Programme (up to 2013).
