Have a bag of soil conditioner on us

Gwynedd Council’s Recycling and Waste Service is holding a free soil conditioning distribution day at Tywyn on Saturday, 16 June, 10am-1pm.

This is the Council’s way of thanking people for using their 22 litre brown bin for food waste.

The session follows similar successful giveaway days all over the county. During May, 850 bags of soil conditioner have been handed out to Gwynedd residents and there is plenty left.

Last year in Gwynedd, over 10,000 tonnes of food and garden waste was collected, diverting it from landfill. Food and garden waste produces methane gas in landfill sites. By collecting it, the Council can make something useful from it.

This soil conditioner, made from Gwynedd’s residents’ food and garden waste, can be spread in your garden.

Those attending do not need to bring their own bags or shovels, the conditioner is pre-bagged.

Gwynedd residents who would like a 20kg bag of soil conditioner should come to Tywyn’s Bro Dysynni Leisure Centre car park, on Saturday, 16 June, between 10am and 1pm. The giveaway is on a first come first serve basis.

For more information about the day – or any other matters relating to the brown food waste bin, household waste or recycling collections – contact Gwynedd Council’s Waste and Recycling Help Desk on (01286) 679872.
