Gwynedd Council helps businesses to be greener

Gwynedd’s Local Services Board is inviting business owners and managers to an early-bird breakfast conference which could help them reduce carbon emissions and save money.

The free event will be held on Friday, 24 February at Parc Menai business park, Bangor from 8.30am to 10.30am. Delegates will also have the option to stay on until 11am for a further free training session.

The Carbon Reduction Breakfast is being held in conjunction with the Carbon Trust and forms part of the Gwynedd Local Services Board’s campaign to reduce carbon emissions and energy waste in all sectors across the county. The aim is to help private businesses to see how they can reduce their environmental impact and also reduce energy bills by being more energy efficient.

During the session, delegates will be trained in energy management so that they can monitor and review energy use in their own business and be able to make changes to working practices to become more energy efficient.

Those taking part will also receive training resources to share with colleagues and staff.

Councillor Dyfed Edwards, Gwynedd Council Leader and Chairman of the Gwynedd Local Services Board, said: “More and more people are realising the environmental impact of our actions, and that small changes in how we live, work, travel and spend our leisure time can help reduce the risk of issues such as climate change.

“This Energy Reduction breakfast conference is a great opportunity for business leaders in Gwynedd to take the first step to becoming greener and less wasteful, and it could also hopefully lead to reduced energy bills too.

“By bringing the sector together we can also give business the opportunity to network and to share ideas with similar enterprises.”
