Support for sports in Gwynedd

A number of sports clubs and organisations in Gwynedd have reason to celebrate after receiving financial support worth a total of £4,048.85 between them from the Gwynedd Community Chest Fund.

In these challenging economic days, the financial boost from the fund will allow three sports organisations to buy new equipment and develop coach’ skills. From golf to cadets, the Community Chest supports a wide variety of sport organisations all over the county.

Sally Lloyd-Davies, Chair of the Gwynedd Community Chest Panel:

“It’s great news that Gwynedd Council has been able to give over £4,000 to all of these different sport organisations, and it’s lovely to see different sports in Gwynedd better off.

“These clubs are of great value to Gwynedd – not only do they offer people the opportunity to keep fit but they also give you the chance to meet new people and play a part in the community.

She added: “Sports clubs and organisations can make an application for a grant of up to £1,500 through this scheme. I would encourage anyone that has interest to contact for more information.

Three sports clubs / organisations were successful this time.

Llanaelhaearn Fitness Group – They will use the funding to send instructor on a Coach Education course to enhance the on-going success of the circuit training class. This would allow for an extra 2 weekly exercise sessions which will include a mixture of dance/fitness/body pump.

Clwb Golff Abersoch – Funding will go towards purchasing equipment for beginners lessons to increase participation amongst new adult males and junior members.

Pwllheli and Pen Llyn Sea Cadets - Pwllheli and Pen Llyn Sea Cadets plan to use the funding to add rowing as an activity for their cadets and to send two members on a rowing instructor course.
