It’s exciting times ahead for Bro Ffestiniog Swimming Pool with extended opening hours and a variety of activities on offer.
Since reopening for the New Year, a new weekday activity programme has been introduced, offering a range of activities for the people of Blaenau and surrounding area. There is something for everyone, including:
- Private / public swimming lessons
- Aqua aerobics
- 60+ sessions
- Kayaking
- Swim club
- Snorkelling
The swimming pool closed on Sundays before Christmas due to lack of use. But with the closure of Glaslyn Leisure Centre, Porthmadog’s swimming pool for repairs & maintenance, staff have been redeployed to assist with staffing and programming the pool at Blaenau Ffestiniog. Therefore Blaenau Swimming Pool will re-open on Sundays from 20 February between 10am and 1pm.
Councillor Roy Owen, who leads on leisure on Gwynedd Council:
“It’s great to see Blaenau Swimming Pool having so much to offer at the moment. The various activities for people of all ages are a great way to keep fit and socialise and with the pool opening again on Sundays, people should make the most of these opportunities.
“We hope that the local community will come along and support their local facility.”
The Blaenau Ffestiniog Swimming Pool will be open on Sundays until at the swimming pool at Glaslyn leisure Centre, Porthmadog is reopened. A decision on the future opening of the Blaenau pool on Sundays will be taken at that time, subject to the demand and usage made of the pool.
