Do I need planning permission?

Planning

If you're not sure if you need for planning permission (or other types of permission) look at the Planning Portal website:

The advice offered on the Planning Portal website is only a guide. We strongly recommend that you contact us before you start work on any development.

Starting work where permission is required without obtaining that permission from Gwynedd Council could lead to formal enforcement action being taken against you.

For more information about this, go to the Complaints - breach of planning regulations page.

Contact us
We strongly recommend that you contact us before you start any work:

  • Online: Do I need planning permission?
The first time you contact us online we will ask you to create an account. Your account will enable you to send us an enquiry, track what's happening to your enquiry and enable us to send you a response.
  • Phone: 01766 771000

Some people choose to contact us directly while others choose to go through an agent / architect. If you choose to contact us through an agent / architect, we will correspond with your agent / architect rather than you.

REMEMBER! If the development is within Snowdonia National Park, you will need to contact the Snowdonia National Park Authority not Gwynedd Council. To see if the development is within the National Park, look at the map - Snowdonia National Park Area.
