The courses will be held at Castell Deudraeth, Portmeirion, and there’s a warm welcome for all.

The first course is an introduction to arts in health and wellbeing and it will be of use for artists from all disciplines and healthcare sector workers. It will be led by trainer Pauline Down, and a presentation by artist Eleri Jones about her recent work at a care home for people with dementia will be given. The ‘What is Arts in Health?’ course will be held on Friday, 26 March (9:30am – 4pm).

‘The Bigger Picture’ is the third course which has been devised for artists and craft makers who wish to become self-employed. Maria Hayes, an experienced artist will lead the course. Bethan Eluned from ‘Menter a Busnes’ will also be present. You’ll get the chance to discuss all kinds of business related topics, including time management, transferable skills, managements, record keeping, marketing and many more. It’s being held on Tuesday, 30 March (9:30am – 4pm).

Gwawr Wyn Roberts, Gwynedd Council Community Arts Development Officer said: ”These courses are a great opportunity to be introduced to new areas of work and to develop self confidence. We introduce these kinds of courses so that we give local artists the chance to develop skills, as well as finding out what’s on offer to them locally. We hope that a number of asrtists contact us to register.”

The courses will be held through the medium of English, and lunch will be provided. All three courses are free but a £20 refundable deposit will be charged per course. If you attend the course, the deposit will be repaid soon after but the deposit will not be refunded if you do not attend.

Anyone with interest should register by Monday, 22 March. We recommend that you contact Gwynedd Council’s Community Arts Unit if you’re interested. Priority will be given to people who live and/or work in Gwynedd.
