Helfa Gelf/Art Trail is looking for participants to join 2010s Open Studio event and would love to hear from you. Helfa Gelf/Art Trail invites the public to visit artists at work in their studios. It is a chance for visitors to experience this normally hidden world and get to chat to the artists and crafts people about their creative process. And it’s all free!
The work in previous years has covered a wide range of the visual arts, including painting and sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, jewellery making, basket weaving, woodcarving and photography. It is an exciting opportunity for the public to not only see where and how artists work but to buy direct from the maker. In addition to the Open Studios, exhibitions of work will be held in a number of venues across North Wales during the year. Artists also get the benefit of free proffessional development opportunities and the chance to attend masterclasses to try out new methods.
Gwawr Roberts, Gwynedd Council’s Community Arts Development Officer said:
“The Helfa Gelf /Art Trail scheme gives members of the public a unique opportunity to visit artists at work in their studios. 2009 was the first time for the scheme to visit Gwynedd, and members of the public were able to visit 26 artist’s workshops throughout Gwynedd where they could see artists at work.
“We hope that the 2010 Helfa Gelf /Art Trail will see even more artists joining the scheme. Not only does it give those interested in art a great opportunity to visit artist’s workshops, but it is also a fantastic opportunity for our local artists to showcase their art.”
