The Public Conveniences Grant Scheme allows businesses, community centres and other groups to claim up to £500 towards the costs of allowing the general public to use their facilities. Grant money will ensure that toilets are clean and that there are facilities such as toilet paper, somewhere to wash and dry hands and proper rubbish bins.
The scheme, administered by Gwynedd Council on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government, is open for 35 businesses. To date, 28 businesses have made successful applications and there is scope to consider others interested in the scheme.
A list of businesses who have joined the scheme can be viewed by opening the attachment on the bottom of this page
Under the scheme bilingual signs will be provided to put in the windows of the premises to let people know that the toilets are open for general use. It is hoped that shops, pubs, garages, cafes and community centres will take part in this ground breaking scheme for the county. The Council may also advertise the facility on websites or other publications.
Any business or community group interested in the Public Conveniences Grant Scheme should contact Gwynedd Council's Highways and Municipal Department for an information pack and application form.
