Area review

In accordance with the Full Council's agreement on 2 April 2009, it was decided to start by reviewing Tywyn, Y Berwyn (Bala area) and Y Gader (Dolgellau area) catchment-areas.

Between 2009-2012 the Education Portfolio Leader, Councillor Liz Saville Roberts, compiled recommendations. To assist in the work, a series of area events were held to gather information, receive comments and to conduct specific brainstorming.

Following the election in May 2012 the Cabinet Member for Education and Children & Young People, Councillor Sian Gwenllian, constructs the recommendations by area and decides the work direction of the school organisation team.

In the 9th October 2012 Cabinet, the priorities of the work programme were agreed in the "Priorities Plan - Reorganisation of Education Provision". As part of the plan it was decided to prioritise discussions on the future of the education provision in the Groeslon, Carmel and Bronyfoel (Fron) areas.
