Gwynedd Council’s Arts Unit has organised a one day course for artists and craftspeople who are keen to become self employed. The Bigger Picture course can also be a refresher session on how to use their skills to make a living for those who have already ventured.
The training session will be given by artist Maria Hayes at Plas Tan y Bwlch near Penrhyndeudraeth on Monday, 20 October.
The course will include vital lessons on wide ranging subjects such as the administration of running your own business, marketing, time management, how to apply for grants and the importance of keeping records.
This is a golden opportunity to move into the world of self employment, according to Gwawr Wyn Roberts, Gwynedd Council’s Arts Development Officer.
She said: “People studying for an arts degree develop their creative skills but the course does not necessarily prepare someone to try their hand at being self employed and developing a career.
“I believe that the course will appeal to people who have recently graduated or maybe someone who wants to develop a hobby into a full time career.”
It is free for those who live or work in Gwynedd, but a £25 deposit is needed which will refunded on attending the course. The course will cost £25 to those living and working outside the county. Lunch will be provided for all. The course will be held by artist Maria Hayes through the medium of English.
