The gender legislation requires the Council to ensure fair and equal treatment of men and women. The rights of transsexuals are also protected under the gender legislation.

Gwynedd Council has prepared a Draft Gender Equality Scheme. The hope is that the draft scheme will provide a basis for the full Scheme which will be publish following further guidance from the Welsh Assembly Government.
