There is room for up to 20 children from year 5 and 6 to become members of the new art club open to Gwynedd’s children. The club will employ experienced artists, who will lead members in a programme of one-day master classes, and the children will receive an art pack which will include various quality art materials.
Gwawr Wyn Roberts, Gwynedd Council’s Community Arts Development Officer said:
“The idea for the art club came from the successful writing squads which have helped children and young people throughout Gwynedd to develop their skills as writers.
“We hope that the “Criw Celf” club will give our young people the opportunity to practice their artistic talent with expert support and advice from professional artists, as well as giving them the opportunity to visit various locations of interest. But places are limited, so anyone who is interested should send in their nominations by 21 December.”
Every one of Gwynedd’s primary schools will have the opportunity to nominate year 5 and 6 pupils who have show an interest and talent in art to become a member of the club. All of those who have been nominated will need to send in a 2D self-portrait no more than A3 sized paper.
There will be an annual membership of £30 required for each member, but places are limited, so remember to send in your entries by 21 December 2007.
For more information, if you wish to nominate a child, contact Gwawr Wyn Roberts, Community Arts Development Officer on 01286 679721, or e-mail: GwawrR@gwynedd.gov.uk
