Gwynedd Council’s Library Service is currently staging a special competition for older people during October.

The competition will be an opportunity for you to nominate their favourite book to read to children.

The book competition was officially launched on Gwynedd’s Older People Day, on 1 October. That day, Rosamary and Adam joined their grandmother Mrs Rita Eyer on a visit to Pwllheli Library to nominate their favourite book, ‘Whatever Next?’ by Jill Murphy. They’re pictured here with Julia Griffiths of Pwllheli Library accepting the nomination.

Your nomination can be a Welsh or English book, and be brand new or an old classic, the only thing we ask is that you enjoyed reading this book to a child. The title of "Gwynedd’s Favourite Story Book" will be published by the end of October 2007 as part of the 2007 Wales Library Festival.

For further information, contact Hywel James, Gwynedd Council’s Chief Librarian on 01286 679504.
