Creative Play
Creative Play

Gwynedd Council works in close partnership with the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board on the Arts in Health and Well Being Programme.

What is Arts in Health and Well-being?
Arts and Health refers to any creative collaboration between artists, arts therapists and people working in health and social care; and any creative initiative that includes the arts which directly or indirectly is intended to enhance people's health and well-being.

Arts in Health is an umbrella term for four main areas:

  • participatory community and hospital based arts programmes
  • art and the built environment
  • Arts Therapies: Art, Music, Drama and Dance Movement
  • medical arts and humanities

Creative Play Scheme
During school holidays and during the period leading up to Christmas a play scheme will be held at the Children’s Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor where children and their families can take part in a variety of playful activities.

Oriel Ysbyty Gwynedd
The Gwynedd Council Community Arts Unit is working in partnership with the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board Arts in Health & Wellbeing Programme. Part of this initiative involves exhibiting artworks at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor for the benefit of the hospital community and local artists.

Gwanwyn
We arrange arts workshops for people over 50 yrs old as part of the annual Gwanwyn Festival. Please read their website for more details: www.gwanwyn.org.uk

Arteffact
This is a project designed specifically for people aged 18 and over who are experiencing stress, depression or anxiety. Take part in a series of weekly arts workshops run by an experienced artist in relaxing surroundings. Courses last up to 10 weeks and will take place in museums and galleries, finding inspiration in art and historic artefacts.

Workshops will aim to help you regain your confidence, enjoy developing new skills, learn about art and meet other people whilst involved in a positive activity. Spend time with a small group of people in a supportive environment. Choose from programmes at the Gwynedd Museum & Gallery in Bangor, Meirionydd Record Office in Dolgellau or Tŷ Newydd in Llanystumdwy.
