Residential Services for Older People in Gwynedd

“Making it easier for older people to live full and independent lives”

Building for the Future – Residential Services for Older People in Gwynedd is a project, led by Gwynedd Council, which is developing a range of residential services for older people to enable them to live full and independent lives, with support available as necessary and according to their wishes. 

To achieve this the Council will be developing a network of services in the form of Care Resource Centres and Extra Care Housing. 

The initial stage will concentrate on four areas:

• Bala
• Bangor
• Ffestiniog
• Porthmadog

Structure

A Project Board has been established to drive forward the project. The members are:

Four Area Forums have been established with local membership and representation from Gwynedd Council [Officers and Elected Members], North West Wales NHS Trust, Gwynedd Local Health Board, North East Wales NHS Trust [Bala Area Forum], the voluntary sector, General Practitioners, and Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd, Cymdeithas Tai Eryri and North Wales Housing Association. The Area Forums will act as a link between the communities and the Project Board, sharing information to raise local awareness and feeding back any concerns to the Officers developing the services.

The local Area Forum will hold meetings with the wider community throughout the development.
