Consumer Advice

The Consumer Advice Service is our interface with the public. We aim to improve the confidence of consumers in legitimate business by providing them with the knowledge they need to ensure that they get a fair deal and with the support they need when things go wrong.

We do this by;

  • Giving advice and information to consumers and traders about aspects of the civil law relating to trading practice.
  • Attempting to resolve disputes between consumers and traders and, subject to the agreement of the parties, to negotiate mutually acceptable settlements.
  • Taking action against any trader found to be trading unfairly so that he desists from such practices.
  • Acting as the initial point of contact for the public in respect of all complaints where there is an allegation of a breach of Public Protection, consumer-focused criminal law.

Consumer complaints about traders within Gwynedd from any source are dealt with by the service, as are complaints from Gwynedd residents about traders anywhere in the world, including those on the internet. We are founding members of the Gwynedd Consumer Support Network.
