Funky facts:
- Greenfly have 6 legs, two antennae (feelers), some have wings.
- They have mouthparts like a straw to suck sugary sap from plants. Greenfly produce a sweet liquid called honeydew from pores on their backs because they suck so much sap. Lots of this liquid can fall from trees causing parked cars to become sticky and dirty in summer!
- Not all greenfly are green! They are part of a familly called aphids; they all look simillar but some are black and some are brown.
Habitat:
Soft plant shoots or very young plants. The soft shoots are easy to suck sap out of, tough bark or stems arent attractive to greenfly. There are aphids that live on all types of plants, including pine trees.

What eats them.
Birds like coal tits or blue tits, and also ladybirds. Some ants gather the honeydew from greenfly as food.
