Silver Birch

A beautiful native tree with graceful pendulous twigs and silvery white bark. The pliable twigs of birch were made into brooms (besoms) and there was a besom factory in the nearby village of Penygroes. The Silver Birch is poetically referred to as the 'Lady of the Woods'.
